… and specifically pointed out the amigurumi dachshund. When that same friend had a birthday, well, I knew what to make her.
He’s knitted in scraps of acrylic – and I mean scraps, I completely ran out of that yarn and had to undo the ears to finish the body! The ears were re-crocheted in leftover Cascade 220. I’ve no idea what the main colour yarn is, but I fuzzed it up with a hairbrush to give it a softer look than you usually get with acrylics.
Aww, don’t look so hangdog! We can’t all be pure wool!
There’s a pipe cleaner shoved through his neck to help with poses, but like most amigurumi, this little sausage dog is crocheted so tightly he doesn’t need much help sitting up.
The nose and safety eyes I bought from Etsy. I’d totally recommend the shop – they have excellent service! It was a pretty small investment and having “proper” eyes really makes a difference in creating the cutest amigurumi! I love how differently the same eyes look on different crocheted creatures too. Look how different the same eyes look on a crocheted fried egg, for example!
I added a couple of buttons from my stash as dog tags too.
Over all, I’m really pleased with how this little fella turned out. I love making amigurumi (I know, you’d never guess from the title of this blog) and really don’t do it enough! All those little pieces can be such a pain to crochet, but when they all come together, the result’s pretty special, don’t you think?
And now I want to make an amigurumi sausage dog for myself.
All week I’ve been humming raindrops keep fallin’ on my head. All because of these adorable crochet amigurumi raindrops! Summer showers aren’t so sweet (especially when you’ve forgotten your umbrella!) but these wee raindrops are. I crocheted these little guys as an illustration of how an amigurumi’s face can change it’s whole appearance. Seriously, it […]
Knitting a Welcome Blanket is art, politics… and a lot of fun. If you’re reading this in 2017, then you’ve heard of Trump’s proposed boarder wall with Mexico. It’s almost 2,000 miles long. What if many crafters around the world, knitted and crocheted blankets from 2,000 miles of yarn? And these blankets were displayed in […]
Stop the presses: this amigurumi sausage dog might be the cutest thing I’ve ever crocheted. “Who me?” “Yes you!” The pattern is from Adorable Amigurumi. A friend picked it up for a couple of francs at a second hand book sale. Look at this cute lil book! So many new creatures to crochet! A post […]
I’m not a royal watcher, but I get the appeal. Those royals! They’re like a real life BBC drama (I will watch a good BBC drama about the royals. I get it. I do). So when I saw this pop up on my Facebook feed, I knew I had to share it. Little Princess Charlotte, […]
Yep, I block my socks! Not every time I wear them, but when they’re fresh off the needles. Before now, I’ve just patted them out onto a towel, but now I’ve made myself a couple of pairs of home made sock blockers. I’ve spent a bit of time drooling over beautiful sock blockers on Etsy […]
